College Prowler Take
HU has no tolerance for any form of drugs on campus, or else it is “out by 5.” This refers to a students dismissal by 5 p.m. if they are caught violating a major rule. If a student is found with any form of an illegal substance, it is confiscated immediately, and the student is automatically expelled from the campus of HU. The main drug on campus is alcohol. Students drink regardless of age, where, when, or who may surround them; and oftentimes can be found carrying around “disguised” drinks—vodka and cranberry juice in a Mystic bottle, for instance. In conjunction with alcohol is marijuana. According to most students, marijuana has a highly-visible existence on campus. Many students who do smoke tend to try to hide it in fear of the severe drug penalty. However, drugs are not even ambiguous enough to not be recognizable. Despite the severe penalties for being caught, students still seem willing to not just take the risk, but to do it openly. According to students, the use of marijuana and alcohol is not confined to parties, but rather is something common that can be noticed at any time during the day. However, there is no apparent usage of “hard drugs” such as coke or ecstasy on campus.

Drug and Alcohol
A
I've noticed that the drug and alcohol rate this year alone has increased significantly. Because their aren't enough activities or off campus ventures, students are substituting boredom with substances.

Just Alcohol
B+
I don’t think a lot of people do major drugs here maybe marijuana. They don’t tolerate any drugs here! They’ll tolerate alcohol but no drugs.

Some drug use
C
A large portion of the school smokes on a regular basis, even if you might not be able to notice this right away. The administration tries to crack down on all smoking in dorms, so you’re advised to just go for a walk but other than marijuana is the most prevalent of drugs especially the more hard-core drug variety is pretty limited.

More drinking than drug use
B
People do drugs but it is hardly ever seen, yet it's kept on the low. Many more people are out in the open about alcohol on and off campus.
