Am I not welcome here?
All I can say is don't attend HU if you are handicapped. It is an absolute living nightmare because they do the absolute minimum here to make it half bearable. Sure, I can get a waver in order to be late for class. But in order to get it, you have to make plenty of time in your day which isn't easy if you are already worn out from the day. Many buildings don't have elevators or even ramps, this is an issue with the dorms as well. The only hall I've seen with a legal ramp is Holmes and White Hall. However, while Twitchell and Kennedy Hall both have ramps, they are not at the incline that actually makes them possible for someone in a wheelchair to use without injuring themselves. Just the other day I was almost severely injured because the incline cause my chair to tip back on the flimsy wooden ramp that Twitchell has and the ONLY thing that save me was the unstable wooden rail that was holding on for dear life.
I almost thought that after high school, I wouldn't have to deal with problems like this, but I guess I was wrong.
