Best Place to Take Your ParentsCollege Prowler Take
Hampton University is within minutes away from almost every fast-food restaurant you can think of. There is also a bombardment of chain-store restaurants like Applebee’s and Ruby Tuesdays. And let’s not forget that Hampton is right at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, meaning some of the best seafood around. Off-campus dining is very diverse. You can have hamburgers at McDonald’s or pasta at the Olive Garden. There is Mercury Boulevard, which has about five blocks, which encompasses a wide variety of restaurants, diners, pancake houses, and generally a place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday. Eating off campus is very popular among on- and off-campus students. Many students order pizza from either Chanello’s, Papa John’s, or Pizza Hut. All of the off-campus dining areas make tremendous amounts of money off of the HU students. Furthermore, because the Hampton area is primarily known for the school and the school brings many students and visitors, many restaurants are continuing to be built. This allows for several job opportunities for the students, as well. When students are really looking to spend some cash on a really fancy dinner, there are always the waterfront restaurants, and one can always hop over to downtown Norfolk for the high-class places. But when staying in Hampton, there is a vast selection for whatever you may have a taste for, and the prices are rather reasonable. Being within minutes from some of the most popular food chains and eating spots around, off-campus dining is highly coveted by HU students.

The places to eat are real good around here. If you travel past Mercury, you can find some pretty good sit down restaurants. I eat In Norfolk and Virginia Beach a lot. Alice Mays has the best food in Virginia! |

There’s a good selection of places to dine in this area. Waffle House is the spot for the late-night eating. Fast food is okay, but it becomes redundant after so long. |

There are a lot of good places to eat in Hampton, surprisingly. Depending on how much money you want to spend, you can always go to Captain George’s or Red Lobster. I love Italian food, so I’d say one of the best places around Hampton is the Olive Garden, if you have a taste for some Italian food. |

The food off campus is alright. I like Pizza Hut so I generally stick to that, but the other restaurants aren’t bad. |
