Hampton University - Overall ExperienceCollege Prowler0.00
College Prowler Take
Hampton University requires an acquired patience and has issues you would probably not endure at another university. The financial aid mix ups, runaround, and the registrar’s office’s inability to provide answers can make any Hamptonian want to pack their bags and transfer elsewhere. The crazy weather, poor transportation and parking, and the neverending hunt for something to do at night, while frustrating, can also lead to some interesting memories and experiences. It can even make for a good story or two. On the other hand, the educational experience students receive is one of the best in the HBCU system, full of inspirational teachers and awesome classes. The friends you make and relationships you build at Hampton make any student or alumni proud to live out a Hampton University experience. Many meet their lifetime mates either while attending Hampton, or by meeting a Hampton alumni later in life at a job or other event. Hampton students and alumni are everywhere and can tell you about the good times and bad times they spent at the University. The HU experience is definitely one-of-a-kind. At Hampton, you come in with the feeling that this is going to be the best experience of your life, when in actuality, it has become a lesson of choice and decisions, yet not regretted. The campus scenery will entice you, the academics will challenge you, the student body will enthrall you, and everything else will, without doubt, fall into place. The college experience is, in the long run, what you make of it. And at Hampton, you’ll have the opportunity to make it everything you could possibly hope for and more!

Overall Experience
B+
Hampton is a good school. There is party life and off-campus life. If you know the right people, you're guaranteed to be invited to events. However, for the fun I have had to study twice as hard to enjoy my time away from books.

Hampton's "The Standard of Excellence"
A+
There is no gray area at Hampton. You either love or hate it. I fell in love with Hampton first sight of it. We have a beautiful campus, wonderful traditions, a diverse student body to be an HBCU and excellent people. I wouldn't change anything about my decision. Coming from a large city it takes a minute to get familiar with the surroundings but it was manageable. I love my school!

Its What You Make Of It
C-
Hampton is what you make of it. If you don't network and meet friends that share your interests you will be bored and lonely. Hampton makes little effort to bring students together whether it’s during events or programs. I use to hate it here but have I have grown to love it because it has made me more outgoing and aggressive when it comes to doing things that I want to do. HU is unique in that the student body stands out as trendsetters. If I could do it over again I would probably just choose better classes.

The Hampton Experience
A-
I enjoy being here at Hampton because I have great friends and enjoy the academic challenges. If I could do it all over again, I would make the same decision because it has high standards and expectations.

Experience
B
My experience at Hampton has been great. I love the big parties that everyone goes to and dresses up for. We have something called Alpha Cab which one of the fraternity's throws. It's one of the highlights of the year and you usually stay in a hotel with everyone and go to a club that night. What makes HU unique are the people and the way everyone strives for success. We all have the same goals and have the same expectations of everyone. All the students dress up for class and it's like a fashion show every day. I wouldn't choose a different school. I just wish there were more opportunities around us.
