College Prowler Take
There are many words that can be used to describe Hampton’s weather: unpredictable, crazy, indecisive, bipolar. It tends to change, not day to day, but hour to hour as the day progresses. Much of this weather phenomenon is due to living right on the water. For those not from the area, weather is one of the leading frustrations. Flip-flop weather, combined with an abundance of pollen and other allergens lead a lot of people to become ill for part of the year. On most days when the sun is out, there are beautiful clouds in the sky, and the beautiful scenery of the sea bordering the campus makes for wonderful eye candy. Then, dark clouds will surface at random, bringing forth rain showers that were completely unexpected.
The summers are usually very hot, and the winters are cold, but there is rarely even a single day of snow. In recent years, it snowed a bit and school had to be closed because Virginia is not equipped to handle even the least bit of snow. The rumor is that there is only one snow plow for each city in Hampton Roads. The fall provides a very quick change from warm, to cool, to a somewhat-chilling cold that normally leaves residents with little time to adapt. Lastly, the spring consist of light rains but has the most beautiful weather of all the seasons. Spring kind of makes up for the crazy weather throughout the rest of the school year. Weather change is constant in this area of Virginia, so always expect a random weather change, and have something, just in case, for any type of weather.

I love the snow and, so far, it has snowed last year and the year before. Before then, it had not snowed in Hampton in about six or seven years. Then, it doesn’t really get cold here, which is good, but it has to get a little cold for the snow to come. |

I like when we have bad weather on campus like rainstorms, snowstorms, tropical storms, and things of that nature, because HU is not used to it so they have to close the school. |

My favorite weather time at HU is spring. It’s not too hot or too cold and it’s a very comfortable environment on the campus. |

Back home or anywhere else you can look at the weekly forecast on Sunday and know what Friday is going to be like. Predicting weekly forcasts is impossible in VA. |

Who could ever think to hate Mother Nature? I do. I hate the weather in Hampton, VA. It changes day after day, and its change is not practical, it’s very dramatic. Maybe I’m overexaggerating, the weather can be very nice, but it changes so frequently that it becomes very confusing. |
