Students who do not use drugs far outnumber the small number who do. Most students will go through their years at Hanover without ever seeing marijuana or any other drug for that matter. Just like at every college, there are people who use drugs, but it is not a big part of the social scene here. It seems that most students who use drugs have off-campus apartments or drive off campus to use them. The students who use drugs at Hanover usually make themselves hidden to everyone but the friends who use drugs with them.

Every drug is available to those who want them, although it is typically more difficult to get drugs in such a remote town. The students who do drugs usually get them from other students. There aren’t drug dealers on any corners in the town of Madison. The typical student would probably tell you that there are no drugs at Hanover because drugs are not a well-known aspect of campus. For the sake of reality, there are drugs around, but it is a student’s choice whether he or she seeks them out. Drugs are never offered to students in passing or at parties. Instead, it is a minority of students who use and pass drugs without students who do not use knowing.
