Most students have to either park in hilltop lot, or in overflow parking. This means a long walk to your car. Cars are mainly useless anyway. They charge 50$ for parking, and parking tickets run from 5-50$ depending on the infraction.

The biology program is wonderful. The professors are all willing to help and very knowledgeable. They can offer you many opportunities for undergraduate research.

The school holds multiple internship fairs, and has multiple offices dedicated to helping students with internships.
College Freshman 2013-12-05T23:17:31Z
The school offers multiple academic scholarships. The FAFSA offers most of the remaining aid, however expect a lot of debt.

There aren't many people who do drugs, but you will meet people who like weed. If you don't want to do it most people are ok with your choice. A large number of students participate in Wasted Wick Wednesday, where they do a bar crawl, or head to the frat houses. If alcohol is not your thing, it can easily be avoided.

There are people from many different backgrounds. Rich and poor, LGBT presence, and people from all political backgrounds. There isn't much racial diversity, most students are white, but it is not a huge difference.

The school is small and offers many opportunities to succeed. Most professors really care about you. The main reason I would consider another school is the price.

Hartwick students will rally behind three teams: Men's soccer, basketball and Swimming/Diving. The only good teams we have. The rest of the teams are semi decent.

There are multiple computer labs available on campus, which are usually empty. Exam time is the only time they fill up. The wireless is fast and reliable- in academic buildings. In the dorm 9/10 times the wifi is fine, but every couple weeks it goes down.

Guys & Girls:
I don't date, as I don't have the time, but most students are attractive, I suppose.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:10:10Z
I love the experience, and I'm getting a good education, but I wish I had gone to someplace cheaper.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:09:31Z
It really depends on the dorm, but it's expensive, cramped, and difficult to move is a problem arises.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:08:01Z
One of the best things about Hartwick is that all people are welcome here, regardless of race, economic background, and sexuality.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:06:35Z
Plenty of people drink, but it's mostly mitigated by the fact that our workload is relatively high, so students don't have as many chances to drink.

The school only allows students to live off campus their senior year.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:03:47Z
I've never been sick from it, and have always been able to get food, so It's alright from my stand point.

I'm not really a part of the party scene, but I understand that you can usually find a party on the weekends if you want.
College Junior 2013-12-03T13:01:34Z
I don't have anything to do with the Athletics department, so I don't really know if it's good or bad.

Campus security and the RA's are usually alright, but the higher ups, such as the area coordinators, tend to go overboard.
College Junior 2013-12-03T12:59:01Z
Most students live in the area, which makes returning home a snap, and because we are connected to a bus line that goes everywhere, it's easy to get to where you need to go.

Health & Safety:
I don't know if it's the community or the security, but we have a very low crime rate.
College Junior 2013-12-03T12:56:25Z
Hartwick has a tendency to overload on the number of freshman it brings in every year, which makes finding a parking spot a hassle.
College Junior 2013-12-03T12:55:12Z
The Greek students are tolerable, as long as they leave the rest of us alone.
College Sophomore 2013-11-11T21:25:43Z
There is a huge nightlife scene in Oneonta, however the quality depends on one's own opinion and taste. Oneonta is filled with bars and clubs, boasting a huge variety, as well as many liquor stores for those preferring a night of drinking at home. A lot of underage drinking goes on, with people getting into bars all over town. There isn't really much need, though, and most students instead opt to go out to the huge number of Greek houses, both from Hartwick and Suny Oneonta, wich all tend to have parties at least most weekends.

There is a fair amount to do off-campus, especially if you are in to nature-centered things. The view is fantastic, and there are great hiking/biking trails, as well as spots for swimming and campgrounds nearby. As far as attractions, there is the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame nearby, as well as a smaller baseball museum right in Oneonta, and a few smaller museums throughout the area. Oneonta is pretty much the bar capital of upstate New York, so nightlife is very lively. Transportation is pretty good, and there is a fair amount of shopping for such a small town.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
