College Prowler Take

Harvard’s classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and the Harvard library system is among the largest in the world. The Malkin Athletic Center was recently rennovated, adding more cardio equipment and more space for exercise classes. Students wisely recognize these resources, and praise the University for spending its enormous endowment on the constant improvement of these existing facilities.

Harvard does lose points due to its lack of a true student center and the absence of any concrete plans to resolve the student center issue. Regardless of these complaints, Harvard receives high marks for providing top-notch facilities to aid undergraduates in pursuit of improving the life of the mind, as well as the body.

The athletic facility was recently rennovated, which doubled space, alleviating most of the usual crowding. In general, the facilities are old, but the technology is updated and features some nice architecture (if you ignore the few buildings built in the ‘70s).

Facilities are generally state-of-the-art. Harvard has the nation’s largest endowment, and most of the time it shows. Nearly all classrooms are equipped with amazing technology, some of which seems like it’s never used, but was added just so they could write about it in their admission guide. The athletic facilities were a bit pathetic, but Harvard rennovated the MAC (Malkin Athletic Center), adding more space and equiptment.

Harvard has no real student center. The Loker Commons, an area that offers pool tables, computers, study areas, and some mediocre restaurants, is Harvard’s most novel attempt at a student center. Undergraduates have placed a great deal of pressure on the University to build a student center, but Harvard has yet to find an area to build one.

The facilities are nice. There can always be more—more space for non-varsity athletes to work out, more dance studio space, etc.

One of the big things we are missing is a student center. The other facilities are great though.
