Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Harvard provides a housing system that offers the best location and rooms in the Cambridge/Boston area; few students choose to live off-campus. Most students complain that off-campus housing is too expensive, and nearly impossible to find anywhere near Harvard Square.

Even those undergraduates with the resources to live off typically choose not to, as the House system offers unparalleled resources and a close-knit community that is the centerpiece of many students’ college experience. If you absolutely must live off campus, then plan ahead, be open-minded, and take advantage of the Harvard Housing Office and tips (or hand-me-downs) from fellow students.

On-Campus Is the Way to Go!

On-campus housing is cheaper and you feel more so a part of the community. I honestly don't know of anyone living off campus, but it can be pretty expensive and difficult to find a place near by. Honestly, i don't think it's worth it, even if you can afford it. On-campus living also makes me feel personally safer.

Don't Do It

You should not live off-campus because on-campus housing is so wonderful!!!!!!! Have you ever seen Harry Potter? Harvard housing is like living at Hogwarts. I'm serious. You get put into a "house," where you live the rest of your college time. You eat in your house dining hall and get to know the rest of the people in your house well. It provides such a great built-in social network and it's a great way to meet a diverse and awesome group of people. House life is so wonderful. I strongly caution against living off-campus!!!
