Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students frequently utilize public transportation in Boston, and almost always give nothing but high marks for the system. Boston’s public transportation provides Harvard students with a reliable and safe method of reaching almost anywhere they wish to go. The local T has frequent stops throughout Cambridge and Boston, while the commuter rail takes students throughout Massachusetts and as far as Providence, RI. Moreover, the MBTA bus system provides additional routes throughout the area.

Public transportation in Boston is inescapable because the expense of parking and maintaining a car can be just as absurd as the rates that Boston cabbies charge. Harvard students benefit greatly from this resource, especially because the Harvard T stop sits in the exact center of Harvard Square, providing all points on campus easy access to wherever they need to be.

Great Transportation

Public transportation is fairly cheap and super easy to navigate. It makes it very easy to go out and enjoy the rest of Cambridge and Boston. There is also a free shuttle that will take you wherever you need to be on campus.

Shuttle and T

If you live in the Quad or need to get to other remote corners of the campus, the shuttles are the best way to get around. They come pretty frequently and are easy to spot. For venturing out of Cambridge, the T (subway) is pretty convenient, as is the #1 bus, that connects the main street of Cambridge and Back Bay Boston across the Charles River.
