Each dorm at Mudd has a very different style, and people are sometimes stereotyped by the dorm they live in. North Hall is the jock dorm, and both West and Linde can be characterized as party dorms. Linde is home to many of the stoners and drunks on campus. West likes to burn random things, such as couches or Christmas trees, and in spite of its frisky nature, boasts the highest GPA of any dorm at Mudd. The outer dorms of Case, Sontag, and Atwood are usually quiet. Once in a while, there will be a suite party in Atwood, but usually on weekends. South dorm is completely substance-free and provides a very stable environment—if you want to study, go to South, home of the unicyclists. East is a world all in its own, where D&D tournaments and role-playing games reign supreme—at least that's the myth told to visiting students. Easties are generally characterized as the “nerdiest of nerds,” and they usually can be seen climbing trees or fighting with duct tape weapons. The dorms are all well-maintained, and there’s not much to complain about in regards to facilities. All of the dorms have a proctor or two to take care of business, and dorm meetings often turn into parties on their own. There’s a lot of inter-dorm animosity that's all in good fun. On IM sports nights, you can often hear the dorms chanting back and forth with heated pride. But whatever your personality or interests may be, you can be sure to find a niche in one of the dorms here.

There are no dorms at Mudd, there are groups of friends with cinder block walls built around them. Sometimes, you can even make major changes to your dorm and the facilities staff won’t mind, as long as they are tasteful. |

There are some great suites out there, like Slouch, Brothel Suite, and Nevada. The suite next to me is Suite Boobies, and the girls there are a lot of fun. Half the fun of living in a suite is naming it. Maybe we’ll be Suite Ass, to match, but I’m not sure. The people are great! |

You should definitely choose your dorm based on the people, not square footage. You really get to love the people in your dorm. |

Usually for frosh, if you fill out the hall matching questionnaire honestly, they’ll put you in the dorm you want. Also, you can request a particular dorm, and most of the time, you’ll get it. There are stereotypes and they are based somewhat in reality, but don’t go solely by that. However, if you hate video games and like to party drunkenly, East Hall probably isn’t for you. |

The dorms are good, except the quad dorm names are way off. East is south of North, South is north of West and west of North, and the northernmost dorm is actually South. It’s crazy, and you can’t think about it too hard, or you’ll fail your physics midterm. |
