Students at the Claremont Colleges rarely use public transportation. Really, most students here don’t go outside the college area, and there are usually people who are willing to drive you places or let you borrow their car. To get to LA, Amtrak is the quickest and cheapest way to go without a car. The Ontario airport is close to campus, although international flights sometimes require leaving from Los Angeles International Airport. During peak airport departure times (right before a break, for example), Mudd usually organizes a shuttle back and forth to the airport.

Students may moan about the 10-minute walk to the Village, but in reality, this is such a small town that you can walk or bike anywhere. For longer trips, you can usually find a friend to lend you some keys. If not, a common way to find a ride is to send out an e-mail to the students’ emailing list, and chances are you’ll find someone to lend you his/her car in return for a full tank of gas. The public transportation may not be much to speak of, but most Mudders are usually willing to help their fellow students get wherever they need to go.
