They offer a substantial amount of Aid to make the cost of 32,000 dollars bearable.

Depends on which Dorm you live in. Some are WAY more strict, others are SUPER lax.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:27:50Z
Its Nebraska. Windy, Cold and icy for most of the school year. Spring and Fall are really nice, but very short. Summer is HUMID AND HOT.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:27:17Z
This school is all about the academics. As you get into your upper level classes, major plays a HUGE role and they tailor everything around you specifically- Tiny class size= more teacher- student interaction. Lots of opportunities for internships, and work load gets HUGE.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:27:17Z
Once again, this is where the school stands out. Although at the beggining courses, there are a LOT of kids who don't care (there for athletics) and therefore the classes go slowly.

Health & Safety:
Hastings is a safe town, not a lot of need for police. Hastings Police patrol, we have "public security".
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:24:15Z
Old school, lots of old stuff. Small classes, not very good desks, and in general paying a LOT more than should be.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:22:47Z
VERY poor housing for VERY high pricing. If you come here later on in say Sophomore and Junior years, there are apartments available which are much better. But they are still way overly priced just as everything else in Hastings College
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:21:31Z
One of the worst things about Hastings- Not a lot to do and at night, most closes except for Jimmy Johns.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:20:37Z
Spent lots of money on TOUCHSCREEN computers, and therefore got worse running computers than if they left out that use. But, they are available, printing is free, and in general they work. But, the network is SLOW and the wifi is only available in some places- none in dorms.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:18:54Z
Barely any effect- very small greek associations and people who join say that nothing changes after joining. EASY to get in.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:17:51Z
Lots of spots, not that many kids, you can generally always find spots.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:17:06Z
Its just such a small school. Its meant for kids who come from small town Nebraska and if you come from bigger cities such as Denver, it is a hard place to be.
College Freshman 2013-11-08T21:16:19Z
Very little diversity, but what is there is very well accepted. Small school, so small amounts of anything except white middle class kids. LOTS of sports scholarships.
College Sophomore 2013-08-18T22:56:00Z
It's a small town, rural in fact. There are always fast foodplaces to satisfy the "I'm tired of the dining hall!" days. Their food is good, but 3 times a day, 7 days a week, anything can get old.

I love the program I am in; I'm very happy with being an education major. As a double major, the professors are very good at helping to get students out in four years. There are things about the college experience that I didn't enjoy as much as I would have hoped, but the education department, and my studies are what I am there for, and I couldn't ask for better professors, or all they do for each student, and getting us into the classroom early on to make sure we are making the right decision for us.

Health & Safety:
Hastings College does a very good job at ensuring safety on campus. If there is someone on campus that shouldn't be, we receive email updates as a caution. Public Safety is very good at what they do and will help in any way they can. I feel very safe on campus.

The process is pretty easy. For education majors, there is an application to fill out, recommendations to acquire, and other requirements to meet. I was missing one of the requirements, but was able to write a petition so that I was able to be admitted. I would say complete the application early.
College Junior 2013-06-12T14:17:37Z
I haven't had an internship through school. I am participating in a program this summer that could be considered an internship, and the process was very straightforward. It will really help me with my career, and I am very excited to start.
College Junior 2013-06-12T14:13:07Z
I love my specific program at Hastings College! As an education major, all the professors are very supportive, and open. They do a great job of making sure we get into the classrooms early, and that they are a good fit for each student. We have lots of opportunities to work with kids in a school setting.
College Junior 2013-06-12T14:10:44Z
It's been a struggle finding scholarships for school, and with the rising cost of tuition, it's difficult. The process went smoothly with the financial aid department, but stay on top of it is the best advice I can give.
College Junior 2013-05-20T17:50:50Z
Really can't judge the weather here because its very bipolar. One day it's 75 and sunny, the next it'll be 45 windy maybe raining. Ultimately it's hard to say.

Hastings is not big enough to have public transportation. On campus, students have the option of using what is known as the Bronco Bus. This service is free with a student ID
College Senior 2013-03-22T00:29:06Z
There is an average selection of fast food and sit-down restuarants. Compared to many cities, there is not much option of more unique foods. Hastings is small enough that most restaurants aren't far away and have reasonable pricing. Student discounts are available in some places with an ID.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
