Life at Hastings College

From the minute that you set foot on campus everything is laid out like a town within a town. Everyone from the secretaries in the Dean's office to the financial aid assistant's make life at Hastings College extremely easy to navigate. The curriculum is outlined so that registration is simplified, classes are easy to find and dorms are located so they are not only safe and secure but also close enough to walk to classes. Most students bring a bike to Hastings with them and cars stay parked for days. The workload is designed so that students aren't allowed to over-do anything, work-studies are available for all majors and the Dean will find a work study for you if you are struggling with making ends meet.

The popular place to meet is The Blue Moon Coffee Company off-campus and the student union on campus. Student's gather because it's fun to do. There is often singing and impromptu dancing seen around campus and on fraternity row. The fraternities and sororities are meshed so that there are many chances for mixers and fun times for all personalities. No one is made to feel out of place on this campus.

The minute I set foot on campus I knew I was at home for the next four years and was already proud to call myself an alumni.

Tons of varsity sports

Hastings has tons of varsity sports. Sports scholarships are one of the things that keep students coming to Hastings. We have small but very active intramural teams.

Decent-sized rooms

The dorm rooms at HC are decent-sized rooms. I have lived in each of the all-female dorms and felt that Taylor was more my style because it seemed to be more friendly and was a better environment to study in. I could sit in the lounge and study with some friends without being disturbed. Babcock, the other all-female dorm, is next door to Taylor. Babcock is more social and has more lax rules, making it harder to maintain a quieter environment. It was just a personal choice for me to prefer a quieter atmosphere because I do have a heavy workload. I wouldn't say there is any dorm to 'avoid.'
