Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Marijuana is the only drug regularly found on campus. It’s there if you want it, but it's very easy to stay away from. There has only been one major drug incident at Hastings College in recent history, and that was when a student was caught selling cocaine in the on-campus apartments. However, many of the student's neighbors had no idea what was even going on, proving how easy it is to be oblivious to drugs on campus if you choose.

The nice thing about Hastings is that there are groups of students to hang out with that don’t choose to drink or do drugs, so you won’t be left out if that’s your choice. BACCHUS promotes safe drinking and alternative options to students. The College also sponsors Safe Rides, a free taxi that will take students from any Hastings location back to their dorm or apartment. Students who do drink don’t get too out of control. The campus apartments can get rowdy sometimes, but it’s never anything Public Safety can’t break up in a few minutes. For most students who drink, it’s mostly social. While drinking isn’t really pushed on campus, there is a good number of students who enjoy their alcohol. The liquor stores in Hastings definitely make a killing off of college students.

Are We Clean?

Honestly I don't really notice drug use at my school but I do no that there is a lot of drinking. The school is in the middle of Central Nebraska it is a good school but there is not always a lot of things to do here.

There are drugs on campus

There are drugs on campus. It is really not that noticeable, but it is there. Students can either find a way to drugs or easily stay away from them.

Not a real drug problem on campus

There is talk about drugs in some of the men’s residence halls, but there is not a real drug problem on campus. I’ve only really heard of students smoking weed, and drinking is a given.
