Many students have felt that Haverford could certainly offer more in the way of computers, and in favor of this, Haverford has made some significant investments in computing. The 24-hours labs, Roberts and KINSC, are very much needed by those students without a computer or those without a printer. Most students do have their own computers, and it is advisable to bring one if possible. The opportunities to work in your own room or access the wireless network (with a laptop) can be valuable. Laptops aren’t a bad idea; presently, the school has a rather small wireless network, although it is constantly growing. Such networks are becoming more common both on and off campus, and it’s nice to be able to take advantage of them whenever you can. One good idea if you don’t have a computer, or if you focus better working in a lab, is to get a job supervising a cluster. You don’t need to know much about computers and you can keep the lab open late if you want.

While Haverford may not have the most attractive computer facilities of modern schools, its current network and labs fully meet the needs of students, and the administration has established methods of discipline for students who abuse the network. However, like the rest of the campus, computer technology continues to expand and become more available.
