Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Facilities have recently undergone many changes at Haverford. The KINSC building for the sciences, though built a few years back, is still a gorgeous facility. Students also enjoy the decade-old Campus Center, which houses The Coop, a partially student-run dining facility, which is a great place to go for a late-night snack and study break. Haverford also recently finished the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center, complete with a new weight room, squash courts, an arena with three wood-floor courts, a multipurpose room for dance, yoga, and even a fencing room. The College is also currently working on a plan to prioritize changes/renovations to Haverford’s campus.

Most Haverford students think the campus is a lovely place to hang out and feel no need to leave. When the weather is nice, many students can be found studying on Founder’s Green. The Coop provides a great place to grab a bite to eat and watch a sports game or TV show. The game room is a nice place to go with friends when taking a study break. And Lunt Café is well known for it’s delicious Oreogasms (a vanilla milkshake with Oreos in it).

Like a 'Ford

The facilities at Haverford are exceptional. The athletic center is brand new and all of the equipment is easily accessible at any time of day to accommodate different exercise schedules. The student center is open and running with mail and a small bookstore. The libraries are open most of the day, and 24 hours during finals week, to allow students to have a quiet study environment. There are campus activities through our group called FAB "Fords Against Boredom" that allows alcohol-free/drug-free events to happen weekly and monthly to encourage students to de-stress during the weekends. The general campus aesthetics are wonderful, everyone who walks on campus loves it and notices how pleasant it truly is to be a 'Ford

A Small School With Lots of Offerings

Living in an arboretum certainly has its charms. The campus is beautiful, and you can see students out enjoying a run on the nature trail or the shade of one of our towering trees throughout the year. While we are a small school, we have excellent facilities. There are three libraries-the Science Library, Magill (the more Humanities/Social Sciences) library, and Union (the music library). Magill is poorly lit but makes up for it in charm and atmosphere. The Whitehead Campus Center just became 24 hour access. I love to study or meet up with friends there. The art gallery is there, too, as is the Coop which cooks up all kinds of student favorites and where the Phillies or Eagles game is usually playing. The gym stays pretty busy, but it's usually not that hard to get a machine if you want one. Ryan Gym, the student center, is a great place to watch TV on one of the big flatscreens-we get so many channels and the couches are super comfy!

The gym is brand new and is really nice. There are places to play basketball, run, work out, lift weights, dance, and do yoga and pilates. The campus center is under-utilized but is a good meeting space with a café and the bookstore. The new student center is great for watching tv, doing homework, or taking a nap. The libraries are beautiful and have every resource I have ever needed.

Favorite Things To Do

Both coffeehouses are good student hangouts, and Lunt Café’s popularity has increased noticeably in recent years. There is a small game room with pool, Ping-Pong, and foosball tables, a big screen TV, and free movie rentals (a hidden Haverford bargain) in the Whitehead Campus Center. The athletic center, the GIAC, has a ton of space for exercise if students happen to have the urge to bust a move. There is no swimming pool, but Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore have these facilities available to Haverford students.
