Great food can be found on the Main Line if you know where to go, and when most students have the money to escape food in the DC, they come here. A sleazy but fun little bar called Roach and O’Brien’s (see the Nightlife section) is the more common scene. They serve good burgers and fills up with Haverford students on Friday and Saturday nights. You have to be careful, though, because there are just as many overpriced restaurants as there are good values. Pretty much anything in the ritzy Wayne community is going to require more money than most college students can afford to spend, but ask any student and they’ll tell you that you’re sure to find an establishment where the taste and quality of the food are worth every dollar spent.

For those students who are just a few pennies short to dine at the fine end of the restaurant spectrum, there are a bunch of standard national chains (like Applebee’s, Chili’s, Olive Garden, or Cheesecake Factory) in or around the enormous King of Prussia mall, about 10 miles northwest of the college. Other student favorites are Pizza Palace for good traditional pizza and Llanarch Diner for cheap food and that classic, smoky diner atmosphere. One great tip for those with a car: five miles east of Haverford, in Wayne, is the Great Harvest Bread Company. Their employees will give you free enormous slices of their 40 different breads, just for asking. You might feel a little slimy not buying anything, but they really don’t care.

So Many Options

Along Lancaster Ave, where many other colleges are situated as well, there are many great and price-friendly restaurants off campus. The whole street is lined with 3 miles of restaurants and convenience stores. The most popular places that Haverpeople go to are the Chinese/Japanese resturant, Chipotle, Peace a Pizza, Ardmore Pizza, Indian food, etc. Anything you could imagine, exists. There are more upscale restaurants as well, which are normally filled with residents of the Main Line, not just college kids. Anything you could want, probably exists within walking distance of HC.

Main Line Dining Not Too Shabby

Off-campus dining options represent a wide range of quick places to grab-and-go, nice restaurants for sit-down dinners, and places to call after midnight. The best place for all three of these is The BRGR Joint on Lancaster Ave. They're only a six or seven minute drive from campus, but they deliver at very convenient hours. The food is excellent, as well. The Main Line has several good offerings for Thai food (Thai Pepper, Siam Princess), sushi (Mikado, Kotatsu) and Italian (Fellini's, Primavera).

Off-campus dining is available,...

Off-campus dining is available, and yummy, but because campus is so self-contained, I feel like there are not many people who eat off campus often. There are a bunch of good restaurants within walking distance--Ruby's, Corner Bakery, and Primavera, to name a few.
