Very few Haverford students ever live off campus during their time at school. Rent is high on the Main Line, and Haverford's housing more than meets student needs. Every year, there are maybe two or three people who decide to live off campus; these are typically seniors with only a few credits needed to graduate. For the rest of the student population, living off campus means paying high prices (the local area is very upscale) and being cut off from a large part of the social atmosphere that Haverford has to offer. Sufficiently said, this is not a school to attend if you want to live off campus.

But let's say that for some reason you did want to move off campus. How expensive is very expensive? The Radwyn on the Main Line Apartments in Bryn Mawr cost $975-$1,005 per month for a one-bedroom flat. If you think a roomie might help you out a bit, plan on splitting $1,115-$1,220 per month or $1,310 for your two bedroom flat. You can do a little better on price if you look in the Ardmore area at complexes like Saint George's Apartments and 101 Mill Creek Apartments. A one-bedroom apartment starts at about $780-$895 a month. On top of these rents, there are the added costs of gas, electric, water, cable, phone, and other bills. Oh yeah, and food and furniture, too. If these properties are a little bit out of your price range, consider this difference-at least there you can bring your cat.
