Good, but you have to drive to most to get to them. Mostly chains of fast food places. If you like Chinese, there's a great buffet and a sit-down resturant near campus.

Computer labs are full during midterms and finals. It's hard to get in there. Most people have their own computers. All the buildings have WiFi which helps.

Cafeteria is good but it's always the same meal choice. There's only the one main cafeteria. The Fireside is much smaller eating place with great food.

Great teams for girls and guys. The volleyball team is awesome and very competitive. The football team is trying to beat Mount Union but not many teams have been able to do that yet.

It's typical Ohio weather! If you don't like it, wait a minute and it will change. The campus is rather compact so if it's raining, it's not far to get where you need to be. The biggest problem in the winter is that the professors don't live in Tiffin, so if they can't get to campus, classes are called off but usually only half day at a time.

Health & Safety:
I don't feel unsafe. Campus crime is very low. We have security watch who are around.

Adults are concerned and try to get help for serious abusers. It's hard for the freshmen and sophomores-those under 21- because there's a lot of drinking going on.

The financial aid people were great to work with but the cost of the school requires more financial aid so that I am not in debt up to my ears before I start working. I will be paying off loans for a LONG time and I will have to go to graduate school-more debt.

The parking at Heidelberg is very limited. It is very difficult for students to find a parking spot. This does not seem fair because the students have to pay $50 for a parking pass. It makes space very limited and makes it pointless for students to bring a car to school. If more parking was available that would make it so much more convenient for everyone.

Health & Safety:
I feel as if Heidelberg is very safe to walk around campus anytime and feel safe. Heidelberg has people on security 24 hours a day that make the campus a safer place to be. Then they also have keys that you have to swipe to get into every building. This will keep from unknown people from walking into campus buildings to keep it safer. Then there is also security checkpoints that are located around campus. If you feel as if you are in danger, you can go find on of these and there is an emergency button that will notify Heidelberg security and then another button for the police. There are many things that Heidelberg university does to keep their students as safe as possible.

Computers and wireless are available in almost every building. I can only think of one that's older that might not have computers available. Printing is free, so it's really nice to not have to worry about the cost of that. There always seem to be plenty of computers open. I've never had a problem finding one to use.

Because our school is so small, you get to know the security officers, many of them students themselves. At welcome weekend all the freshman girls (I don't know about the boys) were given the number for campus security and we all put it in our phones. The staff assured us that security would be more than happy to escort us anywhere if we felt unsafe and actually preferred us to call rather than walk alone at night. Heidelberg is a very safe campus and they do a lot to keep it that way. There was one instance where a man was flashing people on campus. The security sent out a text message and email to warn everyone of the danger.

Heidelberg has a large majority of permanent students who are white. However, we have a large number of foreign exchange students. Diversity in other regards is basically average, and I've never heard of anyone here being discriminated against for being different. It's a very tolerant campus.
College Sophomore 2013-05-01T23:39:13Z
There is no transportation on campus other than security carts for emergencies. However, campus is small enough that transportation is unneeded and it's easy enough to have a car on campus that you can usually find a ride in town if you need one.

It's general cafeteria food. It's not great but not bad either. However, the specialty lines usually have something good and Fireside Cafe is great if you get a meal plan with flex dollars.

Our parking isn't the best, but relative to other colleges I think it's pretty great. Campus is small, so there really isn't more than a 5-7 minute walk anywhere. I've only had trouble finding a parking spot once all year, and I park literally within a 100 feet of my res hall. You don't have to drive from your dorm to anywhere on campus because everything is so close, so finding parking near your classroom isn't an issue.
College Sophomore 2013-03-21T01:33:18Z
There is a lot of parking behind brown and over by the pods. They have parking lot F and G which is good also. However there is not a parking lot right by king hall so that is kind of a downer. Plus krieg hall does not have a lot of parking either and makes it difficult to find a spot up top sometimes.

This campus is very excepting about diversity. Everyone here is treated the same and their is no discrimination because of your reigion, political beliefes ect. It is a great school and a great campus.

I have been in mostly general education classes at Heidelberg University so far. It seems that you really enjoy the class and teacher, or you really cant stand the class or teacher. Some teachers are really engaging, keep students attention and get to know the students. Where some teachers are hard to understand, either in their speech or teaching ways, are really dry in class discussion and dont seem to put a lot of effort in teaching students on a personal level. There is a pretty heavy workload but if you keep your priorities straight its possible to balance it all. The registration process is online which is easy for me but to others it can be difficult. Overall I think Heidelberg has some great professors and classes and some that need great change.

There are many convientant places to eat off campus in Tiffin. Mainly all the popular fast food resturants are just a 5 minute drive from campus. The resturants dont seem to have any student discounts that I have knowledge of. It would be awesome to know of discounts for students in the area. The cost is cheep for about half of the resturants but the other half can be a bit pricey for college students. The only thing that is difficult is that Findlay is about a half an hour drive which is a lot of gas, but they have a greater variety in food choices, especially chipotle and panera!

The weather in the winter is terrible. It snows a lot and gets terribly cold, which makes the walk from the freshmen dorms treacherous to say the least. It also gets to be really windy. Also it seems to rain a lot there, so an umbrella and rainboots are definitely needed. But in the fall season campus was really nice, warm and pretty. I have't experienced a spring season at Heidelberg yet.
College Sophomore 2013-03-07T19:00:54Z
For the most part freshman housing at Heidelberg is not good. We live in older dorms with not many new features. Some of the beds, desks, etc. are damaged and broken. There are nice dorms on campus as well. They just built a new dorm for freshman and sophomores a few years ago and that is very nice, but for the most part the dorms are old and run down.

I just became a part of a sorority this semester. So far I love it and everything that my sorority does. I love that we plan an event for fundraisers to help the community also to help ourselves. I don't believe that non greek students see Greek students in a negative way. People are friends with Greek and non Greek students and it doesnt make a difference. Greek Housing that is available is very unimpressive from the houses that I have seen. They seem to be falling apart and makes me second guess moving into one in my junior or senior year.
College Sophomore 2013-03-07T18:55:02Z
I personally am not in Greek life but I have seen it do great things for many people. Some of the Fraternities on campus are slummy and throw lots of parties but for the most part all of the Sororities are classy and well put together. They regularly do community service and they have a great reputation around campus.

The Math department isn't that great at Heidelberg and I was thoroughly dissapointed in it. It has also made me second guess my major in Mathematics. The teacher doesn't do well in explaining the material and ultimately confuses me more then teaches me.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
