My class gets along pretty good with some drama but there is definitely people that are there to get good grades and learn everything they can and slackers who don't really care. But way better student body then at the community college I went to for my other degree

I'm a computer specialist major, and the computers classes were related to my career field, that's what I enjoyed the most.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I am still in discussions on how much aid I am to receive

Tuition & Financial Aid:
the education is going to be worth it but every college is expensive. especailly culinary or a specialty school it is about 32,000$ for the 18 month program but putting it against most othere schools it is cheaper. unless you are willing to do culinary at a community college or just get a certificate. i still think it could be cheapier though. but they are very helpful with financial aid you get an entire meeting to fill out paper work one on one with just admissions representitive.

Hickey college is a business school. There are no sports or main activities.

The professors are very involved in your schooling, they make sure you understand the subject and the projects. They let you know about your grade if its slipping or even when you are doing better. All of the teachers are nice, professional and encourage you to ask as many questions.

Everybody who attends Hickey College wants to be here and want to succeed in there career. The theme is business and gets all of us ready for a real work place. The small classes really do matter and the teachers know all of by name, along with other students from other programs.

I have never had any major issues with the network. Some times it needs to be updated more often.

I really like the Graphic Design program here at Hickey College because through it I have learned exactly what I was expecting that I would learn. Everything here is professional and feels like I'm getting real-world experience.

I find that all of my fellow students get along and don't have any problems with one another. Everyone is here to learn and is very professional. We all get along and even hang out on our free time outside of school.

We receive an externship at the end of our course. We will also have lifetime job placement after we graduate. The workload and curriculum fit perfect with our field that we have chosen.

Almost Perfect but Not Quite – The curriculum fits well with the field I am going in to but the instructors grade inconsistently and will not explain to why they do. And the class size is very much appreciated because right now I currently have six students in my class so the instructor can give help or assistance equally. Another issue that Hickey College has is the inability to deal with troublesome students. It has very strict attendance policies and refuses to dismiss students that are constantly absent because of silly reasons, but are quite ready to dismiss students who miss minimal days and they only miss because of doctor's appointments, illness, funerals, etc.

Very Convenient – My college has three separate buildings for Culinary Arts, Vet Tech and Technology programs. At my school, the computer lab is always available unless there's a class using it. You can print assignments before or after class. After school, students can stay to work on projects until the school close. It's very convenient and works with your schedule.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
It's Worth It – My school's tuition isn't very difficult to deal with. I'm in the program for 20 months and the total amount is $38,700 for everything including books, supplies, and being in school. The financial aid representatives are very nice to work with. They will talk you through about how your family's income works with the financial aid and provide all the possibilities for you to earn grants and loans that won't hurt. Also, they will notify each month about how much to pay and if you cooperate, it'll go by quickly.

Hickey College provides many chances to practice hands-on experiences with my major which is culinary arts. I meet new people and work in different places outside of St.Louis. Most of the time it's volunteer work, but the opportunity is great. I enjoy trying new things and boosting my confidence. The staff and students at my school are very friendly and kind. They keep everything organized and professional like how it is in the real world. The instructors at Hickey are serious and they will teach you everything you wish to learn. I'm glad to be a part of this school.

Easy Classes, Low Amount of Credit Hours – The professors were generally knowledgeable in their field but not necessarily very experienced with it in the real world. Classes were overly easy in many situations. You don't get to choose or schedule your classes, you are put in to a group of students and follow them throughout your time there. Low amount of credit hours per class makes them hard to transfer to other colleges.

Expensive, Credits Hard to Transfer – I went to Hickey College and graduated in 2007 with an Associate degree in their Computer Network Management program.
The teachers were nice, helpful, and had a good general knowledge of the classes that they teach, however throughout my time in college there they claimed multiple times that they would do all that they can to help you get your credits to transfer to another college once you graduate since they don't offer any higher computer degrees. Upon graduating and trying to transfer my credits to go to Kaplan University to get my bachelor's degree, I found that many of the core classes would not transfer because they were not worth enough credit hours. Upon contacting Hickey College as they had told me to do for help in this situation, I spoke to two different people who said they would get back to me with more information to try and help in a couple of days and they never did contact me back. Upon calling them back they told me there was nothing that they could do and they offered to give me more information on their bachelor's in business management.
From my experience with this college I have to say that if you want a computer related degree, it's not really worth it to go to Hickey College. I would find a college that offers further computer degrees so you can be sure that you don't have to re-take a bunch of classes like I have to do. I have spoken with several classmates of mine from Hickey and the ones that are trying to further their education with a Bachelor's degree are running in to the same issues as described above but with other colleges/universities.
If you want a suggestion on where else you can look, Missouri Tech in St. Charles is a technical school that several of my friends have gone to and they say it is very good. If you are looking for an online college you could look in to Kaplan University, I know I am enjoying their classes so far.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review, I hope that someone finds this information to be helpful while they are trying to find a good college to go to in the St. Louis area to get a computer degree.

Professional Work/School Environment – Before attending Hickey College I attended a community college and didn't like it at all. The classes were around 20 to 30 people and a lot of them were slackers. I decided that if I was going to go to school and pay for it I want my money's worth out of it! Hickeys student body is enjoyable to be around and very professional.

Small Class Sizes – Hickey College is a great school to go to for the small class sizes! One thing not so liked is the grading scale. A 92 and up is an A, 82 and up is a B, etc.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
