Coffeehouse on Campus Yes. There is a Starbucks located on the second floor of the Slane Center. It's very popular with students in the mornings before class and on chilly winter nights.
Movie Theater on Campus Yes. The Extraordinaire Cinema is located on the bottom floor of the University Center. Movie showings are generally Saturdays at 12 a.m. and Mondays at 8 p.m. All movies and snacks are complimentary with the use of your HPU passport.

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The only word to describe High Point’s campus is "extraordinary!" The campus is absolutely beautiful and flawlessly maintained by the University's excellent maintenance crew. High Point boasts magnificent gardens, fountains, lakes, and sculptures to relax and inspire students. If you ever get bored of wandering around campus, basking in the beauty of it all, there are many complimentary perks for students: three outdoor pools, an ice cream truck, beach volleyball courts, and bikes are all great ways to enjoy the outdoors (for free!). The outer appearance is a precursor to what lies inside the traditional red-brick buildings. Every building on campus has been recently renovated or built from scratch. The Slane Center is one such building that was completely renovated and expanded to almost twice its original size! Every feature of campus, whether inside or outdoors, is always being enhanced to further provide students with a truly extraordinary experience.

Although High Point strives to provide students with an inspiring environment, the University also makes sure it has the resources it needs to succeed academically. There are two libraries on campus that are open 24 hours: Smith Library and the third floor of the University Center. Smith is where you can find tutoring services, group study floors, and movie/book checkouts. The University Center is a 24-hour quiet floor and a cozy place in which to study. There are two furnished balconies on the third floor, which are great to use during warm weather for study groups.

Activities

The activities offered are really good. I am a dancer and that is offered at limited schools, but high point happens to be one of them. They also include many other sports that are fun and entertaining to watch

So Many Study Areas

At High Point there are so many different types of areas available to study in whether it is a library, a conference room, a small cubicle, you name it! High Point has so many different types of set ups that span the whole campus that allows wone to complete their work in any fashion at any hour.

"Green" Initiatives

The campus has recycling receptacles throughout campus, located near the entrance of every building. These recycling bins make it easy for the HPU family to go green. HPU is also using electric vehicles to cut down on campus-wide emissions. In terms of food services, the University has gone tray-less, decreasing waste and conserving energy; plus, the University fryer oil is picked up weekly for the purpose of alternative fuel production.

Favorite Things To Do

There are always plenty of fun and different activities going on around campus. CAT (Campus Activities Team) has things organized almost every day of the week, and students always take advantage of them. There are planned concerts, lectures, free movies, and more to keep students entertained. An outdoor activities team plans off-campus trips that allow students to experience day and overnight trips that include horseback riding, skiing, and white water rafting, just to name a few. A vast array of students participate in these campus-sponsored activities, and they’re always fun, well attended, and great for meeting new people!

Did You Know? Not finding something on campus to your liking? Have an idea that you really wish you could tell the administration? Visit one of the many suggestion boxes located in almost every building on campus and let them know! The administration at HPU takes the opinions of its students very seriously, and you can almost bet that if you put your idea in the suggestion box, you will soon see it in action somewhere on campus.
