There are only a few bars to go to at a close distance. The bars only allow 21 and over. There is usually a lot going on on campus at different places, such as the townhouses.

They make it a point that no student drinks and drives so they provide some transportation to bars off campus or some events, such as senior send off, which is an event off campus. They also provide trips out to walmart or to the airports for kids that are from out of state or country that were unable to bring a car to campus.

The athletic center on Hiram's campus is really welcoming. There are three gyms--one for the basketball games and two for practice. One has a track above it. This gym has a huge court with three separate small courts. The student center is where our bookstore is as well as a computer center and a food place other than the dining hall, Its great!

It is a fun and challenging major that has many rewards for the future. The nursing program is amazing due to the fact that the professor are not only close to you but they also help you out with scheduling and finding internships if needed. The workload is heavy but that is pretty logical considering the field of chose.

I am very happy with the program I picked. The work maybe a lot but it will all be worth it in the end when I am an RN. I would still pick nursing or something medical if I did this all again. I am very passionate about wanting to help people so medicals fields give me the opportunity to do just that. I would ideally like to after graduation go into working at an ER then after into an ICU which will lead me to NICU. After paying my dues in the NICU I would love to go back to college and get my degree as an APN and run a NICU floor. I really do not have many concerns about the career I picked.

I love the program I'm in at Hiram. Yes the course load is a wee bit heavy but you can not really complain considering the field you want to go into has a lot of work in it. The professors are very helpful and will do anything to see you make it to the end with a passing grade if you are willing to work. It is very enjoy and I highly suggest it to anyone who wants to be a nurse.

The process of getting into the nursing program has been relatively easy. The only difficulties I had was not getting in on time but yet I was still able to take all the same classes as the other nursing students but I would need to take so over the summer. You want to be aware on how your grades are. never neglect them because they are important into getting you in. There is no strange process you need to go through to become a nursing major. You just say you want to be a nursing major on your admissions application and you will be contacted by one of the staff members if you got in to the program.

There isn't much to say here. They have enough variety for one day, but they repeat the same food pretty regularly. We do have an exotic food section which is always fun, and the soups are always good. One issue I have with the dining hall is that they don't let you leave with food, unless it's ice cream. If I pay for it on my bill, and I don't feel like eating it in the dining hall, then I should be able to walk out with it. We have an on campus cafe, which has a lot of organic and local produce/food. A little expensive, unfortunately, but its great between classes because it's in the heart of campus and I always have time to run over and grab something to go. Only complaint is that their steamer seems to break about once a month.

Everyone I have ever talked to has told me they ultimately went to Hiram because they offered them the best scholarship. Hiram has always tried to be as affordable a liberal arts college as possible. I got a full academic scholarship here, which they only offer to one freshman in the incoming class, but all of my friends have received hefty scholarships and loans. I haven't met anyone here who hasn't gotten some sort of aid, actually.

We're in the snow belt off of the Great Lakes, so during the winter we always get the worst of it. Lots of ice storms. Classes aren't usually cancelled. It isn't all bad though. People often go sledding down the big hills we have here, or "ice skating" in the streets when it's really bad. Also, the campus is small, so you never need to walk more than ten minutes to get anywhere. The first day of spring everyone goes outside. Liveliness day of the year here.

There is a little town called Garrettsville close by Hiram that has a number of dining options. It has a DQ, a chinese takeout place, and a McDonalds. Millers is a home-town sort of diner that serves breakfast and lunch, which is great for weekend mornings after a long night of partying or studying. Their coffee is always good. The Mill is a nicer place to dine, but not quite fancy. They brew their own beer there. There's an Irish pub, a pizza place, and three Italian home-run restaurants. All the food is good, I've never had a bad experience anywhere. It isn't the greatest though, due mostly to not much variety. If you're willing to drive farther, about twenty minutes in any direction will get you to much more commercial areas with all assortments of restaurants, cafes, and other dining. I especially like Burton for its coffee cafe which serves coffee, teas, ice cream, and pastries. At night they have wine tastings and poetry slams, live music sometimes. They also double as an antique store. Prices are moderate, and I've never had a problem, even being broke.

Hiram has a diverse as well as a productive environment which consistently maintains an expansive sense in protection, social responsibility, academic honesty, academic advancement, disability services and non-discrimination policies. Part of experiencing the college environment, there will be instances of students experimenting with substances. Being aware of this, the Staff as well as the security department maintains a watchful and thoughtful eye to maintain safety for all involved.

To my knowledge Hiram as a private College has not within the past 3+ years in attendance had a drug problem. If there has been any issues involving drugs it has been at a minimal.

I am an international student and They let me pay like 20,000$ a year. So, I got almost 50% scholarship but, I am expecting more to get so that I can help my parents reducing tuition fees.

Because the campus is relatively located in the middle of nowhere, the dining hall is the literally the only place where you can eat food, other than the stock pile of food in your dorm room. The food isn't that bad, but there are times where you do feel tired of having the same basic meals everyday.

Some buildings are beautiful and others are not quite as easy on the eyes. Annually there are heating problems in a few buildings but for the most part everything is pretty standard.

Unless you're in football you're pretty much overlooked. We recently got a new rugby coach and we have an official lacrosse team this year. Soccer is really big because of the international students and even though other sports are sometimes deemed 'less important' we are still treated well and have competent coaches.

When there's parties, you can go to the townhouses and float around all night. When there isn't a special occasion, there are a few regular places that have parties.

Not for a Free Sprirt. There are rules in all the res halls and you will get cited/fined if you break them. If you are outside, the police will find you.

We have tons of international students at Hiram. Many students also come from out of state, from different backgrounds and different perspectives. While it is true that most students are white and from Ohio, there is enough of a diverse scene to make us happy.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
