Hiram is generally perceived as a safe campus. The Hiram police spend a lot of time patrolling campus, and the Campus Safety officers are always on the move. In addition, there are emergency call stations located strategically around campus to use in case of an emergency. Thankfully, they don't really need to be used.

As far as the health of students, the "Hiram Plague" is a campus-wide pandemic that engulfs the student body every fall. Just about a month into the semester, everyone succumbs to a cold. Thankfully, the Julia Church Health Center is always giving out cough medicine and other helpful trinkets to keep students healthy. In fact, the health center does programming throughout the year to promote general health on campus. They do things like "Wipedown Wednesdays," where the campus is encouraged to disinfect doorknobs and light switches.
