How any particular student feels about the school depends on a number of things— classes, people, money, etc.—but most people like it here, minus the high tuition. Hofstra's academic credibility has definitely gone up in recent years. Whenever Hofstra students tell people where they go to school, people usually say, "I've heard that's a really good school." When this happens, students feel some "Hofstra Pride." Even though Hofstra doesn't have a football team anymore, they've still got some pretty good sports for people who are interested in them. Hofstra also has great academic programs and good professors. Overall, Hofstra students really do have a lot of good things going for them. To make the best of your time here, try to get involved in different clubs and activities. Go to a midnight movie, play pool down in the game room, and utilize the newly-renovated Recreation Center. There is a lot more to do here than most people realize, and once you know everything Hofstra has to offer, it makes the experience that much better. Filter:

hofstra is a very hands on school. They provide lots of great opportunities. I like the easy access to the city which allows for great internship and job opportunities and field trip exploration. i also like that Hofstra has many students from all over the world attending its university. It adds a unique diversity. |

Housing
B
My friends and I tried to live off campus our sophomore year but then decided against it. I loved that Hofstra had set up a page on their website that listed different offerings. I found it to very helpful and useful. Most of the houses we looked at were within a 5 mile radius of school and transportation was not a problem because we could easily walk. I did not like how most you had to rent for the whole year and the cost was expensive and it was much cheaper just to live on campus. |
