Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

If students complain about the food, it's probably because they've been eating the same thing all semester. There are several places to eat on campus, but most students seem to stick with the main cafeteria, the Student Center. Even within the Student Center, there are different options. There is the recently opened California Pizza Kitchen, Charcoal's, a salad bar, and more. There is also a little section where crepes are made two days a week, which is becoming a popular favorite.

The best places to eat, by far, are CPK (California Pizza Kitchen) and Bits 'n Bytes. Kate & Willy's is hailed as being vastly better than the food in the Student Center, but it's practically the same. The food in most places is a bit on the pricey side. At Dutch Treats, the convenience store, everything is severely marked up. You'd be much better off buying snacks at one of the many 7-Eleven stores nearby.

Usually Look Elsewhere

Most food on campus is overrated but all of it is overpriced. Much better options can be found just off of campus. Have never wasted money by locking into a meal plan.

Good but Tiring.

The food is great at times but there isn't much variation so it can get tiring, especially if you're not willing to walk very far.

Bits Is Best

Bits-n-Bytes is the best place to eat at Hofstra. I love the Red Mango there! The student center is also really nice, there's a wide variety of options including sushi and kosher. I also love the Starbucks by the Quad and the Au Bon Pain by Berliner Hall. The core by the Netherlands is not the best dining hall, it closes early often and they always have a limited selection of food, but they do have a Subway.
