Hofstra has a lot of international students, but most students wouldn't know it. The undergraduate population isn't as big as some other schools, but it might be a while before one really grasps how many students there are from other countries.

There are so many different organizations catered toward different ethnicities that one can easily find others of the same ethnicity to connect with. There are also organizations just for female students, as well as the Pride Network for GLBTQ students. Yes, the campus is predominately white, but the minority students don't need to be afraid of this because there is always some way to be around others who share the same background.

Hofstra is a diverse atmosphere there are exchange students from all over the world. We all get along wonderfully.

Hofstra University is very diverse and very accepting of other people regardless of who the person is, where they come from or even sexual orientation. While I was at my Orientation everyone was really friendly to every person there. The Orientation leaders were very accepting and the environment felt safe and secure.

Gay Pride

Hofstra is very gay friendly. The Pride Network is probably the best example of that—it brings the GLBTQ community together along with heterosexuals that consider themselves allies. There was even a drag show in the fall 2009 semester that attracted a lot of students.

Political Activity

Hofstra's a pretty liberal campus, but not many students are very politically inclined. When we hosted the third presidential debate in 2008, people were a lot more active, but now that we don't have that anymore, everyone is back to being just regular college students who aren't very interested or involved in politics.

Economic Status

Hofstra's a pretty expensive school, so the assumption is that everyone that goes there is rich. This is not the case at all, and most students have ridiculously high loans every semester just to be able to attend the University. While you will see a few BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes in the parking lots, you'll also see some Fords and Toyotas, as well.

Most Common Religions

Many students at Hofstra are either Jewish or Catholic, but there are other religions mixed in, as well.

Minority Clubs on Campus

There are tons of minority clubs on campus for almost any nationality or ethnicity you can think of. Even though Hofstra is a predominately white school, there are more than enough organizations to cater to the needs of minority students.
