Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

It seems like a lot of places on campus go overlooked by the majority of the student body. For example, most students who are not communications majors have never been inside the NewsHub in Dempster Hall or to New Academic Building or Hagedorn Hall. These are some of the nicest places on campus, as far as facilities go, but most people never see them.

In terms of what people do see, there are the computer labs, the gym, and Exhibition Center. With computer labs, Hammer is open 24/7, but gets very crowded and very loud when exams come around. Calkins, the other open-access lab, isn't open 24/7, but is probably preferred to Hammer since it tends to be quieter. When it comes time for finals, silence is definitely golden. The gym has recently been renovated, but there could be more improvements made to make it look even nicer. The Exhibition Center is nice to look at on the outside, but the inside leaves a lot to be desired. In general, the campus is very pretty in the spring, but in the winter, it looks very cold and forbidding.

Hofstra Facilities Ratings

Facilities are good for the most part. Sometimes facilities get way to crowded at certain times of day.

Awesome Gym

Hofstra just had the entire fitness center redone and it is fantastic. There are enough machines so I always get the one I want and there are a wide variety. They also have great classes, such as jazzercise (my personal favorite), rumba, and cycle.

Gardens at Hofstra

Walking around the campus at Hofstra is pleasing to the eye and the soul. The campus is not too small and not too big. It's just the right size to make it intersting.
