It seems like there is a strong program but I am not an athlete

I have never lived on campus so I wouldnt know. The campus is small so imagine how close you are is a plus
College Senior 2013-11-26T07:42:20Z
I really have no idea. Some of the younger students seem to party but I don't know

You have to be on top of your paperwork they will not be at all
College Senior 2013-11-26T07:40:53Z
The computers are great but if you are an evening student the labs are always full with classes

I love the Teaching Credential Program.

I love the discussions that we have, the interest in supporting young people of color, and the attention to making it better.

Holy Names is a great school for a small class experience. For me it has been a saving grace!

Health & Safety:
Safe, since I can walk alone at night without any worries. I rarely hear any news about students being robbed or raped. I haven't heard any grave crimes committed in my school.

Holy Name University holds hundreds of students from nursery to college. I am actually a product of this institution since elementary. They also have a hospital, known as Holy Name University Medical Foundation. It's near our school which benefited the College of Nursing, where I graduated.

There is no Greek Life at HNU. Honesty, I believe the school is better that way. Since, Greek life would only cause a separation from "popular people" and "non-popular people", also it would increase the parties at HNU. The school has a moderate amount of parties already.

Holy Names receives an A-. Since, there isn't many off-campus places students can go to for bars/club scenes, there are always parties on campus to compensate. As for Night Clubs, there aren't any near campus. One has to travel to 20 miles to San Francisco. For students like myself that like dancing Spanish music, I have to borrow a friends car and drive 30 minutes.

The nearest Dining places are Taco Bell and Sparky's. The school is located in an area where there is not a great amount of places to dine or for distraction after a long studious week. By taking a bus ride to the closest Bart Station, there are a couple of small Mexican Restaurants. But, even then the buses do not run often.

There is a great amount of diversity in HNU. There are students from different parts of the world.

I'm an English major and I felt like I was taking high school courses in my upper division. I think the English major at Holy Names is way too easy. I constantly felt underchallenged and like I had to create my own learning goals and learn on my own.
I'm not super into school, but I really was not challenged here.

This is the second most ethnically diverse university in the country. The students are peaceful for the most part and friendly.
Academically, I think it should be more rigorous, but most professors are caring and want to see students do well.
The building is on the Oakland hills overlooking the beautiful bay area with a gorgeous view. The school is just a beautiful building.
Parking is free!

Guys & Girls:
HNU is a very diverse campus you will find many student are from out of the country and different working class backgrounds. Also a significant amount of the students are from the surrounding area of Oakland. The campus is exposes you to all cultural by celebrating international cultures.

Depending on what time your class begins you may have trouble finding a close park. Although the school does not give out fine/citations for parking it still an inconvenience when you have to walk really far. Arriving about 30 minutes early is helpful.

Living on campus is a great experience, that I think everyone should exerience at least once in their lives. It is extremely different than living back at home. At Holy Names University, the social atmosphere is great! Everyone gets along with eachother and everyone is super friendly. The dorms are decent, but some renovation is needed. The cafeteria is an all you can buffet, but after awhile you begin to get tired of the same foods over and over again. Overall, living on campus is fun!

The vans used at Holy Names University are not reliable whatsoever. We use them daily to get to and from soccer practice, as well as to and from soccer games. The vans have broken down in the past, doors have fallen off, and the air conditioning does not work. The vans at the university are hazardous and unsafe. In order for our team to travel to soccer games, we occasionally have to rent reliable vans. We should not have to spend money on something we should already have on campus.

The drugs at HNU can be found , but yes it does depend on the people you affiliate with.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
