Hood College is primarily a drug-free school, but some students do choose to use drugs, the most prominent ones being tobacco and marijuana. Any harder drugs (like LSD, heroin, or cocaine) are nonexistent on Hood's campus. Yet, those who do use drugs seem to find each other and stick together in small groups. In addition, students using drugs other than tobacco typically keep the activity almost exclusively to off-campus apartments, where security is slightly less visible. However, if you do get caught with the possession of illegal drugs, the consequences can be very serious, ranging from costly fines to going up against the academic judicial board and facing expulsion.
Drinking at Hood is almost another scene entirely; it's prevalent in the dorms and even more so in the off-campus apartments. In some places, it can get pretty out of control, but, for the most part, it's just people trying to unwind and play drinking games. Much like the drug policy, the consequences for being caught with alcohol and being underage are severe. However, if you aren't interested in getting involved with the drugs-and-alcohol scene, it is entirely possible to go your four years at Hood without ever participating or being pressured.
