There are fees for tuition, laboratory classes, and supplies, and sometimes these all add up to a bit more than students expect. However, most students feel the education they are receiving is worth paying for. The Financial Aid Office can help students find sources of funding, but the process can be complicated at times. Make sure to take your tax forms and your parents' tax forms (if you are a dependent) with you when you speak with an aid adviser. You'll also need a photo ID, like a driver's license. There are plenty of brochures and handouts available that answer common questions. About 15% of students received aid in the 2010 school year. There are plenty of types of aid to help you pay for school: loans, Federal Pell Grants, program grants, academic excellence grants, scholarships, and more. You are often issued an HCC debit Eagle Card, which lets you use money from your financial aid package like a debit card. There are ATMs available on campus. You can always check your student aid online and call a customer service hotline if there are any problems. The offices are often open for at least 10 hours a day, so there is plenty of time to visit.
