College Prowler Take
Howard guys and girls are always passionate about whatever they do—be it studying, partying, or getting dressed up. And even though the campus was recently voted the second most fashionable university in the country by Women’s Wear Daily, nobody is judged by their fashion sense, or lack thereof. You don’t need to be dressed to the nines or wear bank-breaking outfits to fit in or make friends here—people are ready to accept you and relate to you based on your status as a Bison, first and foremost. With a female population that severely outnumbers the male population, there is often fierce competition between the girls to snag a good guy. Most Howard girls are genuinely friendly and have great personalities. And since HU students come from all over the globe, they all have something unique and different to offer. There are the homebodies, the fashion mavens, the earth mothers, the tomboys, and so on. The guys are, perhaps, a little more conventional. Given the grave male-to-female ratio, there’s always temptation for them to play around, and some do to a large degree. Generally, speaking, though Howard guys and girls are friendly, intelligent, personable, often outrageous, easygoing, and of course, extremely hot individuals who never cease to work hard and play hard. Even though the University is...
Even though the University is predominantly black, there is a large amount of diversity. Not only are the males and females on campus intelligent, but they are all beautiful in their own distinct ways. Everyone has impeccable style. It is a fashion show everyday on campus. |

Howard is a very fashionable school, and both the guys and the girls dress very well. There aren't that many attractive guys—you can find a few here and there—but they are nice and cool. |

There is a wide range of people that go here from all over the country and world. I can't really say there's a typical student, but it's a great learning experience. |

The guys on campus are very attractive, focused, and Christian. The females are motivated, stylish, beautiful (inside and out), and down-to-earth. The downside is that women outnumber men tremendously. |

The girls are beautiful goddesses, and I suppose the guys are attractive too, but I don’t really spend time looking at the guys. There are so many beautiful, intelligent and strong Howard women for me that, as far as I’m concerned, other guys just don’t exist as competition for their attention. |
FactsBirth Control Available?
Yes - Some options offered are male condoms, spermicides (foam and jelly), birth-control pills, diaphragms, and Depo-Provera injections. Everyone requesting any method of contraception that requires a prescription have to attend a one-and-a-half hour contraceptive class. Available at the Student Health Center.
Social Scene
The social scene at Howard is pretty much anything goes; there is no set structure. Everybody interacts with everybody. Finding the right group of friends is imperative. Nonetheless, there is always something going on so it is not hard to find people to converse with.
Hookups or Relationships?
Relationships on Howard’s campus are scarce, but that’s not to say they are not possible. Students have in their minds that they are young and now this is the time to have fun, which is why hookups are more common.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Each semester different dormitories have socials where guys and girls show up. The Undergraduate Library, classrooms, and the Yard are all good places to meet guys and girls as well.
Dress Code
Howard is the second best dressed school in the country, behind New York University; therefore, pretty much anything goes! People dare to be different every day and it is widely accepted. Students like to mix trends from their hometowns with trends in Washington, D.C.
