College Prowler Take
The students have said it best: don’t drive to school. If finding an apartment seems like an impossible task, worse may be finding a parking space. If a shorter commute is
the incentive, looking for a spot will eradicate any good done. Realistically, not a lot of students will be driving to school; many don’t have cars, nor can they afford them. (Have you seen the price of gas?) Testament to this are the hoards that exit the 6 train at 68th Street—right below Hunter College.
Driving to school is a concept that is foreign to many students. Coming from the city themselves, many do not have driver licenses, so driving would not even be a possibility. Should a student decide to do so, they should expect more aggravation than it’s worth because the school isn’t accommodating for such activities. You’re on your own.

If you have a mini bike, yeah, parking is easy. Have you ever tried to park in Manhattan? No? Don’t start now. First, you must memorize the insane parking laws of NYC, alternate side, no alternate side suspended, no parking, and tow away zone. Finding parking by Brookdale is not nearly as bad as trying to find it by the main campus. I think the garage on 68th Street charges $30 a day, so don’t think about it. Besides, why pollute with a car when you have the best public transportation in the world? Don’t be spoiled and ungrateful. There are enough Chinatown buses and railroad services to get you where you want to go. |

I don’t have a car, but my friend never seems to have too much trouble finding a spot (well, her dad has one of those police sign things for her windshield, and she only drives in during summer session). |

I don’t have a car, so I’ve never had to try and park around Hunter. Having said that, I hope I never will. |

I’d imagine it’s quite difficult. |
