Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Hunter College has its own subway stop. Taking the 6 train to 68th Street brings you directly to campus. It makes the commute a little bit easier to deal with, considering the school is so easy to get to. When traveling about town, public transportation gets you anywhere you need to go. Buses and subway trains run consistently during the day (at night, be prepared for less frequent service) and follow a very comprehensible, if at first confusing, system. When figuring out the subway system, one tip is to get a laminated map that unfolds to a manageable size. Don’t be ashamed of it, either; it will be your best friend until you learn the lines.

The transportation system isn’t immune to New Yorkers’ scorn. Crowded trains, disrupted service, and multiple transfers can get to even the most patient people. They come with the package, though, and for the most part, public transit gets you where you need to go quickly and easily.

It's New York City !

We have 24 hour a day, 7 day a week service. The problem lies in the reliability of that service. It is always running, but not always at the speed that you need it to. The cost is $2.25 a ride, and the subway stops at the main college. Most students commute within the city, and others from surrounding areas. Those coming from outside the city might pay more, and have more of a problem with timeliness in inclement weather.

Excellent!!

There is a train station access literally in the basement of the school. You dont even have to leave the building. The 6 train runs pretty well and there are good transfers to other trains. Although at times it can be full.

Subway All the Way

Hunter at the center of really good transportation options. It has its own subway stop, Hunter-68th St. Station, making the subway the best way to get around. There are also buses nearby. If you're not into public transportation, you can call a cab. However, don't think driving is a good idea - New York City is very crowded and you probably won't find parking anywhere around.
