College Prowler Take
Athletic needs are a high priority at ISU. Between sports teams, the popular intramural program, sports clubs (competitive and non-competitive), and the athletic center, everybody can be involved. The intramural program is the
most supported athletic program with its wide range of sport styles. Competition is definitely at its peak in these intense challenges. Students recruit the best players they can find, give themselves a snappy name, and head out onto the field or court with high determination. Sports clubs are also a popular way to go with air hockey, table tennis, billiards, bowling, and much more. There is no reason to be bored or inactive at ISU.
The one thing ISU athletics is missing, though it is improving, is school pride. The athletic teams have a difficult time attracting student support. It could probably be because of the lack of Ws in the win/lose column, but the students do need to up the pride. There is a new Bengal Battalion, a pep club of super fans, that is hoping to improve Bengal pride. They come with their orange shirts and painted faces and, of course, an attitude. This motivation could catch on and help sports teams win and make students more proud of their school.

Varsity sports are hit or miss...
Varsity sports are hit or miss here. It seems like once we get a good team, it’s gone the next year. However, they do provide a free source of good entertainment to enjoy with friends. Intramural sports are rapidly becoming more popular. They are thoroughly enjoyable, but don’t expect the refs to be even remotely serious. |

I love sports, but not so much varsity sports. I can tell you that there is wonderful climbing all around Southern Idaho. You are just a couple of hours from City of Rocks, a climber’s paradise. The hiking and camping are equally as wonderful. Right out of town there are mountains and miles of trails to enjoy. |

Idaho State is home to mediocre athletics with some exceptions, including the women’s soccer and volleyball teams. The intramural sports are participated in by a small group on campus. |

Varsity sports on any campus are big. You either like ‘em or you don’t. If you do, you support them and talk about them. The typical class gossip isn’t about the last football game we played. IM sports are pretty big. |

Varsity sports are big on campus....
Varsity sports are big on campus. Many students attend all of the home football games in our indoor stadium, and both the football and basketball teams receive good fan support. They are almost always exciting to attend. There are IM teams for almost every sport you can think of. Flag football and basketball get very competitive. |

Getting Tickets
All tickets for students are free with Bengal ID. Students just need to bring their Bengal ID with them to the game, show it at the door, and go on in! And there is always room for everybody!
Most Popular Sports
Football and basketball are the most student-supported sports at ISU.
Most Overlooked Teams
The cross country, golf, and tennis teams do not get near as much attention as the other athletic teams. But this is not an institution known for its athletics, so all of the sports could use more student support and game attendance.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Red Hill Connector is the best trail on campus, but Pocatello is known for great hiking, biking, and walking trails. All Pocatello area trails can be found at www.pgfweb.com.
