Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For an Idaho school, ISU is semi-diverse. There are a lot of home-grown Idaho kids, a large LDS student community, and not a lot of variety. But that is not to say it is not there. The international students contribute to diversity on campus with their many events. The African Student Association holds “African Night” annually, with food, entertainment, and games straight from African culture. The French Club also has lots of events that include good French cuisine. International students are continuously pouring into the university, and it changes the view of the school as well as the students, making them more culturally educated. There is a large number of non-traditional students at ISU. The average age of an ISU student is 26, much higher than many universities. It definitely gives a different feel to the university when parents come to class with their children, coloring books, crayons, and Cheerios in tow. This also makes the Early Learning Center a larger part of the university. Many parents take advantage of the on-campus facility so they can visit their kids between classes and be nearby in case of an emergency. Having older students around definitely gives students a different perspective on school and their future.

All Students Are the Same

All students get along and are friendly to one another. It's so amazing seeing everyone get along. Races don't matter at ISU, we are all students and we're there to get an education.

Quite the Same

This university lacks a large percentage of diverse students. There are a hand full of international students but the majority of the students are white and of the same religion. We are a nontraditional schools so its students vary greatly in age. This school is in a small city and is an overall small campus but lacks a lot of variety in the student body.
