Traditions
March through the Arch : The Arch was part of Swanson Hall, which was built in 1903 and torn down in 1973. The Arch was dedicated to the memory of ISU alumni who attended classes in this first building and in memory of Theodore Swanson, a member of the original board of trustees for the Academy of Idaho. It is an annual tradition for freshmen to march through the Arch. Thousands of new students have participated in the "March through the Arch" that preserves part of Idaho State University's history.
Urban Legends
Custodians of some of the old buildings, which date back to 1901 when the school was known as the Academy of Idaho, say they see people walking around the halls at night.
