Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

ISU is a big pond with many diverse fish. Since the students are extremely diverse with different backgrounds, standards, religions, ethnicity, and looks, anybody can find a mate at this school. ISU attracts partiers, studiers, sports players, and churchgoers. The gay population on campus is also quite thriving with gay organizations, activities, and a gay bar off campus. There are drinking fraternities and non-drinking sororities. There was joke in high school that girls go to BYU of Idaho to get married and guys go to ISU. That pretty much sums it up. People are getting married left and right. This does not mean that you will automatically be sending out wedding invitations as soon as you step on the ISU campus, but it is a great way to find love, probably due to the laid-back community and the lack of things to do. Since there is not much to do anyway, guys and girls tend to get more creative, making things click on a different level.

GUYS AND GIRLS

THEY ARE ALL REALLY NICE. HERE IN IDAHO FALLS IN THE CAMPUS IT'S MUCH DIFFERENT THAN IN POCATELLO BECAUSE HERE THERE ARE MORE STUDENTS THAT ALREADY HAVE FAMILY AND ARE NON TRADITIONAL STUDENTS. IN POCATELLO ITS STUDENTS COMING RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, BUT I REALLY LIKE IT IN IDAHO FALLS. IT'S A NICE ENVIRONMENT AND STUDENTS HERE ARE REALLY EASY TO GET A LONG WITH. THEY ARE ALSO MORE MATURE SINCE THEY HAVE FAMILIES AND JOBS TO TAKE CARE OF UNLIKE SOME COLLEGES THAT ITS MORE ABOUT PARTYING THEN GETTING GOOD GRADES

There's a Wide Variety

Guys at Idaho State University have a wide variety of looks, attitudes, and dress styles. Because this is Idaho, there are a lot of country boys and rednecks, which is perfectly fine with me. There are some pretty boys as well and of course, the nerds. Girls here tend to take pride in their appearance and on average are pretty.

What kinds of relationships have you had since coming to school?

How would you rate the social scene on campus?

Facts

Social Scene

For many students at ISU, being social is not a problem. If one student talks to another student, the second student will respond positively. Students are just really friendly and earnest to learn about others. There is somewhere for everybody to fit in, no matter what their background. There are just a lot of different social circles that are friendly and open.

Hookups or Relationships?

Dating seems to be a thing of the past for many students on the ISU campus. Everybody has adopted the "hanging out" theory, figuring it is just more comfortable and not as risky. This is not to say that nobody ever gets into a serious relationship and gets married. The initial hookup just usually begins with hanging out instead of a first date.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

The SUB is a popular place for food, which means it is a popular place for students. It is also a convenient spot to meet and hook up, and lunch is just ten feet away. And believe it or not, the library is also a well-known social scene. Students are hushed time and again for too much talking and socializing and not enough quiet studying. So as a side note, for a good study spot, find a corner, or else somebody will stop to talk to you. The LDS Institute is also a popular hangout and market for guys/girls. This LDS organization hosts luncheons, dances, Reed Gym activities, concerts, and other activities (again, usually with food).

Dress Code

Since it is Idaho, students tend to dress according to the weather. If it's cold, there are a lot of coats. And since the student body has a wide age range, there is a variety of fads dating back to the ‘70s.
