College Prowler Take
A majority of the ISU student population prefers off-campus housing to on-campus dorms. Pocatello offers a variety of housing opportunities, including townhouses, apartments, and duplexes. If students are interested in meeting new people but do not want to pay for the dorms, RM Properties is one great way to go. These non-alcoholic facilities are quite new, with a total of 12 tenants in each apartment. The buildings are located along 4th and 5th avenues, right off campus. Another option is the new Bengal Creek Housing, with 700 available spots for students. Each apartment houses six tenants with private rooms furnished with a bed, dresser, closet, and desk, and the facility includes a clubhouse with a theater, swimming pool, hot tub, pool table, and more. This is a great option for new freshmen to dive into the college world.
Apartments are not the only way to go at ISU. There are numerous renting possibilities for students at any academic level. There are always basements and houses for rent and
even houses for sale, and a lot of them are right by campus. Housing for non-traditional or married students is also very accommodating off campus. But just a word of advice—get going on your housing search early, not because all the good places will be gone, but because there is a lot out there to
look at!

Off-campus housing is great, and I would definitely recommend it. Don’t get me wrong, the dorms sound fun, but I rent a great little house just off campus. I have space—actual space—to put my stuff. |

Housing is pretty dang convenient around ISU. You just have to be willing to look around. Living off campus is worth it every year! |

Housing off campus is far more...
Housing off campus is far more convenient than dorms. There are always places that are fairly cheap, clean, and homey. There are always ads in the LDS Institute. All that’s needed is an interested applicant. |

Housing off campus is the choice...
Housing off campus is the choice of most students at ISU. It is also cheaper than living in the dorms and healthier food-wise if you can manage yourself and not be too unruly. |

Since there is so much housing so close to campus, I would say that housing off campus after freshman year isn’t bad at all. |
