Weather is a funny thing in Pocatello, Idaho. There are basically two seasons: really, really hot summers and really, really bitter winters. There is a two week period twice a year between these extremes that could be considered some sort of fall or spring. The wind is also familiar to Pocatello residents and anyone in Idaho. The nice thing about the weather is that it complements the popular recreational activities in the area. Skiers and snowboarders are usually greeted with drifts and more drifts of snow. The boaters and water skiers are sure to have an active summer in the sun with the American Falls reservoir just 20 minutes away. So make sure to bring a coat and a swimming suit on your trip to ISU.

Even the Weatherman Is Confused.

Our weather is the most unpredictable and aggravating. It could be sunny for the first half of the day and then two feet of snow before dinner starts. It is constantly as windy as the plains of Kansas and cold 85% of the year. When it is a nice day though it is spectacular and beautiful. It is also aggravating that the people who plan events don't notice the absurdity of the weather and plan for it!!! After living here for 5 years I have learned never just have one plan when it comes to outdoor events.

Weather isn't horrible. Our main campus is 45 min away so in the Winter time it's no fun to drive

One thing I love about Idaho is we get all four seasons with just enough snow to be fun but not a major winter issue.
