College Prowler Take

With the reputation of a party school, it may come as a shock to actually see ISU students roaming the Quad on their way to class. Contrary to some beliefs, ISU students do value their education and many take it extremely seriously. While general education classes may not be the most interesting, lecture halls continue to be packed with students every class period. The relationships created and maintained by students and professors are one of ISU’s greatest strengths. Most teachers will tell you that they are available at anytime for a student, some even willing to give out home phone numbers. on such a large campus this may not seem possible, but ISU strives to be different and to make an impact on its students’ lives. Many students come to ISU to earn a degree in education, which makes ISU one of the most competitive universities in the nation for that major. Business and social sciences continue to grow in popularity as well. recently, ISU has become a consistent competitor in rivaling other in-state schools academically. While there are students who put their social lives ahead of school work, the stereotype of ISU being a party-only school is slowly diminishing. The faculty at ISU is one of the main reasons why ISU is constantly improving academically. Many professors work with students to make sure they are learning the material and understanding difficult concepts.

There are a lot of students from the sububs of Chicago, which makes it easy to relate to others. Also, the school is not too big or too small, so getting involved in school or extra activites isn't hard.

the course work for major is ok. i find the introduction classes in the communication school to be some what repetitive and would be very nice if more courses that are offered to seniors could be offered in earlier semesters.
