College Prowler Take
All underage drinkers need to take note and realize that before they turn 21, they will most likely receive a drinking ticket. While for some it is no big deal, for those who have never received any type of ticket, this is major. The average drinking ticket is a whopping $250. Many question why the normal police are so strict on underage drinking in a college town. one of the tricks that ISU students have acquired is the private versus public property trick. The police cannot ticket you if you are on someone’s lawn, but once you step foot on the sidewalk, they can bust you. ISU students have been known to stand on the front lawns of a house parties and ridicule the cops. The dorms are a common place to pre-party before going out. However, students need to remember to keep quiet and keep the door locked. ras are not shy about contacting the police to issue tickets in the dorms.
ISU’s party scene is why the police have become so strict. While it is normally not out of control, there are many students who participate. Underage ISU students have been known to use fake IDs to enter the bars, and now it is common for police to go undercover in the bars. Incoming students need to remember to party wisely and pray that the cops don’t spot them.

The cops around here are really strict. I got a $250 ticket for trespassing on railroad property. I didn't cross the tracks where I was supposed to, and I ended paying that hefty fine along with serving six months of court supervision! The cop was a really big jerk about the whole thing!

The police are very strict. Many times they’ll send undercover officers to parties. While it is funny at the time to see a 30-year-old man hanging around with no one to talk to, it gets annoying having to constantly run from them. |

It is very strict here. Drinking tickets are given out all over the place. That is probably one of the biggest complaints, the amount of drinking tickets the cops give. |

Police are everywhere looking to bust students for drinking. Party smart, and remember that the huge parties usually get busted. If the police would get off our backs for a little bit and realize that we are responsible, people would respect them more. |

They are as serious as a heart attack for the safety of the students. While that is good for the University, and it is nice to know that someone is watching out for you, at times they take it a little too far. Even downtown, where almost everyone is 21, there are cops walking up and down the streets all the time. |
