Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Most students believe it is important to bring a computer to school. While there are a number of computer labs in campus buildings and in the library, these labs can be an inconvenience to many students. At certain points throughout the semester (like during finals), the labs can get crowded, and it can be hard to find seating. Having your own computer can also provide students the convenience of being able to do their homework whenever they want. With a student's Redbird Card, students can print from one of the printing stations, but it costs $0.08 per black and white page and $0.80 per colored page.

Students are supplied with an e-mail address and this becomes the main form of communication with professors and other students. Although there are certain anti-virus protections that must be bought and maintained by students, overall, the ISU network is fast and convenient. TechZone, ISU’s technology support service, will help fix viruses and clean hard drives usually free of charge. There is also software available for student purchase at a discounted price; this is an excellent way for students to get the most current software.
