Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

A growing number of facilities at Illinois State University are being renovated with more up-to-date technology. While the computer software is generally pretty good, the classrooms still need work. The College of Business building is a new addition to the ISU campus and houses the best features in classroom instructional technology, providing an excellent workplace for all young professionals. Opening in January 2011, the Student Fitness Center provides an adequate space for students to work out or attend kinesiology classes. Students are now allowed to join the center free of charge using their Redbird Card. The center features cardio and weight training spaces, four fitness studios, multiple sport courts, an indoor track, a swimming pool, and a climbing wall.

The Bone Student Center is a popular area where students can see concerts, enjoy food, and study or hang out in between classes. New restaurants have been added in previous years, and "the Bone," as students call it, is home to ISU’s Barnes & Noble Bookstore where students can purchase textbooks. The Milner Library is perfect for students who need to study or do research, even if the facility itself is a tad outdated. Milner has six floors that are mixed with computer labs, study rooms, and lounges, and certain floors are "maximum quiet floors," which mean there should be no talking between students. Milner is also a good place for groups to meet to complete projects because it is in the middle of campus.

Good Campus Facilities

Most of the facilities on-campus at ISU where renovated recently and are in great condition. There is a really awesome student fitness center, where they offer free Zumba and workout classes as well as a pool and workout machines. The library is really big- the only problem is that the movies are organized really weirdly and it's hard to find what you want. Otherwise, everything is great. We have activities every weekend at the Bone student Center, like $1 movies, too.

The Library Is an Invaluable Resource to the Students

The library here at Illinois State University is nothing short of outstanding in both its catalogue and its incalculable value in the extent that students make use of it. On any given day/night, the library will usually be full of students no matter what time of the day it maybe. They not only come to research, but the library is also a safe work haven to complete whatever work one may have due to the number of large quiet floors it possesses. Not only are the quiet floors always utilized by students, but it also offers an number of sizable computer labs, movie rental catalogue, as well as friendly staff who are always ready and willing to help.
