Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

A growing number of facilities at Illinois State University are being renovated with more up-to-date technology. While the computer software is generally pretty good, the classrooms still need work. The College of Business building is a new addition to the ISU campus and houses the best features in classroom instructional technology, providing an excellent workplace for all young professionals. Opening in January 2011, the Student Fitness Center provides an adequate space for students to work out or attend kinesiology classes. Students are now allowed to join the center free of charge using their Redbird Card. The center features cardio and weight training spaces, four fitness studios, multiple sport courts, an indoor track, a swimming pool, and a climbing wall.

The Bone Student Center is a popular area where students can see concerts, enjoy food, and study or hang out in between classes. New restaurants have been added in previous years, and "the Bone," as students call it, is home to ISU’s Barnes & Noble Bookstore where students can purchase textbooks. The Milner Library is perfect for students who need to study or do research, even if the facility itself is a tad outdated. Milner has six floors that are mixed with computer labs, study rooms, and lounges, and certain floors are "maximum quiet floors," which mean there should be no talking between students. Milner is also a good place for groups to meet to complete projects because it is in the middle of campus.

Athletic Center

ISU has a great Rec Center. I don't really work out but the ISU rec center offers numerous group fitness classes that help me stay in shape such as zumba and club dance.

Awesome Rec Center

The new recreation center at ISU is awesome!! It's super nice and huge! There is a ton of workout equipment and always enough free ones for people to use. I also utilize the library quite often. It's the perfect place to study. There are also a lot of places to eat, including 3 dining halls, the bone student center with many restraunts, a few subways within certain dorms, and many more.

Favorite Things To Do

The Bowling and Billiards Center is a great place for students to hang out, play pool, and bowl. Comedians on campus are invited to the BBC to compete in competitions. Weekend activities such as foam parties, acoustic performances, poker competitions, and dodge ball tournaments are also held here. For students who are 21 or older, the Castle Theater in Bloomington offers students the chance to kick back and have a beer while checking out a concert. Students also like to walk downtown to catch a flick or hang out at the local coffeehouse to relax.
