College Prowler Take

Many of the chain restaurants that surround ISU are located on veteran’s Parkway, approximately a 10-minute drive from campus, which can create a problem for students who do not own cars. While Bloomington-normal does not have many locally owned restaurants, chain restaurants are what you will see everywhere. The variety of what is offered can at times be overwhelming, too. One of the newest additions, Potbelly’s, has become one of the students’ favorite hot spots for eating. Avanti’s is known for its variety of sandwiches at a cheap price, and Tobin’s Pizza, a local favorite for many, is known for having outstanding pizza. But, any bar hopper at ISU knows that the place to be after the bars close is la Bamba’s. This typical Mexican burrito joint is known for satisfying the hunger pangs of ISU students late at night. It is only normal to become sick of eating the same meal day after day in the dorms, and eventually your supply of mom’s homemade cookies and ramen noodles will dry up as well. Thankfully, ISU students have the privilege of being surrounded by decent restaurants to curb their hunger. While transportation may be tricky if you’re without a car, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the campus.

My Favorite Off Campus Foods

A

Not too far off campus there are a bunch of great restaurants that my friends and I go to! We love to go to Chipotle, Hooters, Biaggi's, and Buffalo wild wings. Living in an apartment makes those places kind of like treats for us when we don't have to make our own dinner! I really do not think there is anything missing off campus that I would really enjoy that we don't already have!

There is a lot of variety here at ISU. Applebee’s and Red Lobster are awesome. You can go anywhere to eat here because there is a little bit of everything.
