ISU Couldn't Give Students More to Do
A
there is alot of things todo on the ISU campus alone, but if you go beyond that there are many resturants, a mall, and downtown area. right now it's rough because of all the construction but it will be a hot spot in a couple of years.

Very Good, Not Necessarily Needed
A-
ISU has it's own campus shuttle that gets students across campus with relative ease, however this is not needed because the campus isn't overwhelmingly large. Bloomington-Normal Public Transportation is also very good and free to students. This offers students easy access to many parts of town.

Parking passes are oversold
C
There always seems to be limited parking in the green lots. I think too many passes are sold for how many spots there are available. Whenever I go it's always hard to find a spot. I get there early and have to drive around until I see someone pulling out of a spot.

Average cost
A-
I think that the cost of transportation around campus is normal. The buses are free to get from one side of campus to the other and also to get around town. The taxis are normal, but all taxis are pretty expensive.

Convenience of Parking
F
There is absolutely no parking by facilities unless you want to pay an arm and a leg. Even if you want to park at a friends apartment for the night you have to park a million miles away or pay a lot. The parking is terrible.

Enough to Do
B+
The town is pretty big, and there are other colleges here. The bar scene is about 10 minutes from campus, which is kind of a hassle, but they make ways to get around. There is not a huge area surrounding campus like some other big school have. It is nice to be at a big school though and still be able to get around.

The cops around here are really strict. I got a $250 ticket for trespassing on railroad property. I didn't cross the tracks where I was supposed to, and I ended paying that hefty fine along with serving six months of court supervision! The cop was a really big jerk about the whole thing!

The police are very strict. Many times they’ll send undercover officers to parties. While it is funny at the time to see a 30-year-old man hanging around with no one to talk to, it gets annoying having to constantly run from them. |

Greek life at ISU is not big enough to dominate the scene, but it can influence the life of a student. If someone likes to be included in events, then Greek life is probably for them. However, you are not missing out on anything if you don’t join Greek life. |

It is very strict here. Drinking tickets are given out all over the place. That is probably one of the biggest complaints, the amount of drinking tickets the cops give. |

You have to bring everything from tank tops to sweaters because you never know what it’s going to be like. This makes it a pain to move in because you have so many things. I do like having the weather change because then it is not boring. |

From August to October, it is hot, so make sure you bring your tank tops. The fall is usually nice, breezy weather. From February to April, it snows the whole time. |

The food on campus is great, and there is a variety of places to choose from. Whatever you feel like eating, you can get it that day. Having a lot to choose from is one of the best things about ISU’s on-campus dining. |

Try and visit the dorms so you can get a feel of the set-up and atmosphere you like. Watterson may have the biggest rooms, but it is not very social. |

I loved living in Tri Towers. It’s a nice transition for freshmen because you form your own community out there. The seclusion of Watterson is bad for freshmen because you can’t meet people as easily. |

Atkin-Colby is a great dorm. Watterson is great to live in, but registering to live there is horrible. It seems like everyone is doing it at the same time, so things start to get screwed up. Watterson, though, is probably the most popular place to live. |

ISU is not that diverse. I remember reading somewhere that only, like, 10 percent of the student body belongs to a minority, which I think is low. It would be nice to see the level of diversity increase. |

Greek life here is just one giant party, which is the best. Frats have parties every weekend, and they are usually out of control. If you don’t want to be Greek, you can still go to their parties. |

Really, it is just another social group that is on campus. Greek life is not anything special. Personally, there are enough people at ISU that you don’t need to buy your friends here. |

Great Biology Program
B+
Ever sense I switched my major to Biology my schedule had been more defined. My adviser is extremely helpful and always answers questions. My teachers are helpful also, and I have only had one bad TA (which is bound to happen sometime). There were frequent study sessions for my biology classes, and the teachers are always willing to meet with you. I am extremely happy so far with my field of study at ISU.

Athletes Can Be Jerks, Decent Support
C
I have heard we have a good basketball team but I have never gone to see them. I go to football games to hang out with people but have never gone in because we are not very good. The few athletes I have met are not personable, so I do not make a habit of hanging out with them.

Few Guys, Lots of Girls
C
Illinois State University has a lot more girls than they do guys. Unfortunately most of the guys are lame and join frats, so there is a limited supply of decent ones. For the most part you can find hot guys, but you may have to look. Girls are everywhere. I am not saying they are all smoking hot but there are more of them, so more options.
