College Prowler Take
The safety of the students is one of ISU’s main concerns, and they make it their responsibility to make each student feel at ease. Fortunately, ISU does not have much crime to respond to. One of the biggest complaints about ISU is how difficult it is to bring people back to your dorm room after midnight.
not only does the dorm resident have to show two forms of ID, but the visitor has to show ID as well and sign a form.
However, this safety precaution has helped to keep ISU’s dorms as safe as possible. Police can be seen driving around campus constantly, which is also a reason why the campus has such a low crime rate. niteride, a free bus service for students during late-night hours, is also provided by ISU.
This conveniently takes students to places they need to go, whether it is the store or the local frat party.
Even though ISU provides a safe atmosphere, once you step off campus and into downtown Bloomington, you run the risk of something bad happening. Since ISU is not responsible for what goes on off campus, it is always a good idea to stay close at night. The ISU police have done an outstanding job
maintaining a high level of campus security. ISU’s low crime rate on campus is directly related to the effectiveness of the ISU police. While many students may gripe about the strictness, it is because of it that each student is so safe on campus.

Did You Know?
ISU provides a bus service for late nights called NiteRide. This gives ISU students the option of taking a bus instead of walking around campus late at night. On weekends, the bus runs until 2:25 a.m., and during the week it runs until 12:55 a.m.
