Not Too Great

The state of Illinois isn't doing to well financially, so there is practically no financial aid for students above the poverty level. It sucks. You have to really look for private scholarships, and you probably won't even get too much then. And I have really good grades- if you have bad grades, you won't get anything.

Depends on Your Major

Scholarship availability greatly varies by major. Apply early for every scholarship for which you are eligible. For other forms of financial aid, make sure to file your Fafsa early since the state is broke and grant money may run out.

Advice on Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid at Illinois State University is in 231 Fell Hall. Here, financial aid counselors answer questions about FASFA and private loans; there are also a few options provided to finance a student's college education. The counselors are willing to meet with students whenever they would like, even halfway through the semester, which is very helpful. Remember to make an appointment early and fill out the FASFA form before the February deadline!
