Quick Stats

Students Are Most Likely to Get Caught... Drinking underage

Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Students at Illinois Wesleyan are very much responsible for their own actions. This can be a double-edged sword for many students as they adjust to their newfound freedoms and responsibilities. Authority figures are not noticeably visible on campus. Professors, faculty, and students regard each other equally. Security and students tend to work together rather than be at odds with one another. Some students even volunteer to work Security shifts as part of their work-study.

Perhaps the most exciting thing to happen to a student Security officer in recent years was when someone decided to drive their car across the quad. The Security officer threw his flashlight through the windshield, narrowly escaping injury. This is about the extent of major troublemaking on campus. For that reason, Security spends most of their time checking parking permits, making their rounds, and playing solitaire on the computer. This isn’t to say the staff is lazy; they just haven’t got a whole lot to patrol. Cooperative efforts among students, faculty, and school and local security officials create an atmosphere of comfort and safety. Strictness is most evident as a self-imposed virtue among the student body. In order to get things done, you need to keep yourself disciplined, and not rely on other people to keep you
in line.

Campus Strictness

it's not terribly strict, but you shouldn't be walking around with blatant alcohol containers because you might get picked up by security, however, they aren't that hard to avoid. You can have beer in upperclassmen dorms, but it's easy to get away with anything pretty much, like i said don't be dumb.
