College Prowler Take
Public buses run through the Wesleyan campus once an hour or so, making it easy to catch the bus if need be. However, it can take up to an hour to get to where you need to be. You can transfer from one line to another, free of charge, but be prepared to spend a lot of time on the bus. If you nail the timing of overlapping routes, you may be able to traverse town in good time, but if you’re in a rush, you’re better off calling a cab. Bus rides cost about the same as a load of laundry, but if you frequent either, the change adds up. The Friday and Saturday night party-bus rides are popular among students not only as a means of transportation, but also as a final destination. Kids get all sloshed up and then hop on the party bus for a random night of meeting other equally sloshed students. In reality, everything you could need is within walking distance. A Kroger, Walgreens, and two gas stations provide food and bathroom items; there is a Chinese take-out, two sit-down pizza places, and a sandwich shop nearby; and University Cinemas is practically on campus. University Street is the only street in town that crosses the campus of both IWU and ISU. This makes it easy to get from one bubble to the next, and enjoy both downtown areas. The town is easy enough to get around, but the public transportation is not a recommended option.

They have a bus running to ISU, but you’d need a car or taxi to get other places. |

There is the public bus system, but from what I understand, it is pretty confusing and somewhat unreliable. With the ease of parking, though, there is a high percentage of people with cars on campus and a high chance you’ll know someone with one. |

I’ve never taken the bus, but I’ve almost been run over by it as it speeds through campus, so I assume they are timely. |

The buses run daily, but only until 9 p.m. on weekdays, which can be inconvenient. The weekend party bus rides are the best. The public bus just goes around and scoops up drunk college kids so they don’t wreck their cars or get DUIs. It’s actually a great place to meet people, which is hilarious. |
